Card Sorting Research

Organise your content to increase findability for an optimum user experience.

Knowing how your users would group content on your intranet or enterprise portal helps you to deliver that content in a way that makes sense to them. Akendi uses proven card sorting techniques to determine how to best structure the information on your portal so you can optimize the user experience and meet your organisation’s goals.

CLOSE THE FINDABILITY GAP

Through card sorting, we help increase findability with appropriate labeling and content organisation, ensuring users can find the information they are looking for.

INCREASE QUALITY

Understand how real people would organise your intranet or enterprise portal to increase the quality of your information structure. Quick and cost effective, our card sorting research ensures the optimal presentation of your data.

where to start

We start by meeting with internal stakeholders to set card sorting research objectives and define what information, terminology, topics and content should be included in the research.

TIMING
The typical duration for card sorting research is 3-5 weeks.

how we do it

Using open and/or closed card sorting techniques, we work with representative end-users to analyze and organise information into content groups that make sense to users. Through research techniques we determine the list of topics to be sorted and then recruit a representative sample of participants from actual user groups.

We use a card sorting application and observe and listen to participants as they make their way through the card sort. We then analyze the results and use this information (along with knowledge gained from other activities) to create the IA for the intranet or enterprise portal.

what you get

We provide a final research report that outlines the card sorting results and provides you insights and recommendations based on the results. We then use this information to create an information architecture (IA) that organises information on your site to increase findability for your users.

The IA includes appropriate labels and nomenclature for the intranet or portal. Conducting card sorting de-risks your investment by helping you to make informed decisions about how to organise content on your portal in a way that makes sense to your actual users.
